Casual Game Crowdfunding: Cats, Dogs, and Dragons

Good Dog, Bad Zombie

Whether you’re a cat person or a dog person, there’s a game for you on Kickstarter this month if you’re an animal lover. Love supernatural creatures? They’re there too with werewolves, dragons, and zombies!

Good Dog, Bad Zombie

Good Dog, Bad Zombie (Make Big Things) – A cooperative board game in which you take on the role of dogs in the zombie apocalypse, determined to rescue the humans they love. Each dog you play has its own unique powers. You explore the city, investigating scent tokens, looking for humans. Once a human is found, you have to use energy cards to guide the humans away from zombies and to the park. As you play, new zombies spawn throughout the city, and are always moving towards the park, so you need to chase them away. Each time a human is lost to the zombies, the dog feral tack increases. If it ever gets too high, the dogs lose the game. Save enough humans and the dogs win and create a new home with them in the park.

Cat'astrophes

Cat'astrophes (Ludovic Mahieu) – Players are cats, trying to cause trouble and get the other cats in trouble. Each round, players take turns, choosing one of three different actions: draw a card, play a card face down in front of yourself, or face down in front of another player. After each player has gone, all cards are revealed and resolved. Each card will either increase or decrease your mischief score by a number of points. If you reach 20 mischief points (or the deck runs out), the game ends. At the end of the game the player with the lowest number of mischief points, wins the game.

Dragon Keepers

Dragon Keepers (Knight Works) – Dragons roam the countryside and have befriended humans. But there are evil hunters seeking to kill the dragons. Can you protect them? In Dragon Keepers, there are two gameplay modes. There is Keeper mode, a simple competitive push your luck game in which each player is attempting to defend three dragons from the evil hunter. In the slightly more complicated Dragon Mode, players are cooperating. The goal of the game is for players to train a predetermined number of dragons and have them defeat the hunter themselves.

Deadwood 1876

Deadwood 1876 (Facade Games) – Players are put in teams, working together to obtain the most gold filled safes, until the final round, when players in the winning team compete against each other. Players start the game in one of the three establishments (teams). At the start of the game you are given two Deadwood cards and two safes. On your turn you can play a card from your hand, and use it for the item shown on the card, or for the gun on it. With guns, you can attack another player's safe or a player. When attacking, the other player choses a gun of their own to use. Different guns correspond with different colored dice, with some more powerful than others. If you defeat a player, you can force them onto another team, if you defeat them over their safe, you claim it for your own.

Rise of the Exiled

Rise of the Exiled (J&E Innovations) – In each game of Rise of the Exiled you control a single character in a battle. Players separate into teams and select characters (each of which comes with a unique ability) which they place approximately three feet from each other. On the count of three, each player throws their transparent weapon card at an enemy. If your weapon card overlaps an enemy's character that character loses hit points. You start with seven hit points, and lose a certain amount of hit points in relation to where on the character card the weapon fell. After the attack phase, you can move your character one card length in any direction. When you throw your card, you have to release the card from where your character card is lying, so moving away from your opponents will make throwing more difficult, but moving closer will make it easier for you to be hit.

Earworm

Earworm (VS the UNIVERSE)Earworm is a party game for lovers of music. On your turn, you draw five song cards. You select one of these songs. You must try to vocalize this song so your team can guess it, but you are not allowed to use any lyrics. Your team has thirty seconds to guess. In party mode, the first team to correctly guess ten songs wins the game. In tour mode, the game is played over a series of three increasingly more difficult rounds and the team that guesses the most songs, wins the game.

Werewords Deluxe Edition

Werewords Deluxe Edition (Bezier Games) – In Werewords, players guess a secret word by asking yes or no questions. If you figure out the word before time runs out, you win. However one player is secretly a werewolf who not only knows the word but is also working against the humans to try to prevent them from figuring out what it is. The Seer also knows the word, but can’t be too obvious about helping her team because if the werewolf can identify the seer, the humans lose! The brand new deluxe edition includes new artwork and four new roles. New words have been added to the updated app as well as a brand new narrator. The game will now be playable with 2 to 20 players.
