Asmadi Games

A new Catan expansion has been announced, Gamewright has released Qwixx The Card Game, and the winners of the Annual Golden Geek Awards have been named.

While everything else may be uncertain, Kickstarter continues to host great casual games to delight, distract, and entertain — from some of the most adorable puppy artwork you will ever see and light ten-minute card games to strategic word games and tile laying cave escapes.

Games which accommodate both solo and cooperative play seem to be especially valued in the market these days. This trend was noticed by developer Chris Cieslik of Asmadi Games, and inspired the new Kickstarter game One Deck Dungeon. Whether it’s the straightforward mechanics, solo play support, or the deliberate decision making behind the character artwork, the project has already accumulated over $85,000 in backer support.

This month features several games with intriguing themes, from adorable pandas to supercomputers attempting to hack each other. There are also a couple of two player games, if you’re looking for something to play when you can’t bring a big group together.

Both established game companies and first time designers are bringing their gaming ideas to Kickstarter this month. Several games have great themes, aimed at attracting children with rules that are engaging for the whole family.
