Card Games

Kickstarter was originally created to give designers the opportunity to test an idea that might otherwise be a hard sell to a mainstream publisher. Co-Op: The Co-Op Game is exactly this type of niche game.

A standard game of poker is getting a pretty drastic overhaul in a new Kickstarter game titled Drawing Dead. Players face off as various Wild West saloon patrons in the card game with the highest possible stakes, their souls. Half poker, half tabletop game, the gorgeous Day of the Dead inspired artwork and deck design certainly seems worth checking out for anyone who calls themselves a card game fan.

It is rare for me to binge on a board game, but that is exactly what happened after I got my hands on 5-Minute Dungeon. After sinking several hours into a game that usually only lasts 5 minutes, I realized I was hooked.

Many gaming fans can empathize with the feeling of being so infatuated with a fictional setting that they’d love nothing more than to travel to their fantasy worlds and interact with all the characters, places, and creatures that made them fall in love with it in the first place. This was certainly true for game developer Eric Torres, who has spent the last 10 years bringing his own fantasy world to life with his game and book series set in the mystical land of Rynaga.

Win fans and power as you compete for the right to rule the universe in the battle of the bands as a pantheon of gods. Now on Kickstarter.

Currently on Kickstarter, this bluffing card game puts you in the role of thieves casing a museum, stealing treasure, and occasionally telling a few whoppers.

This easy-to-learn card game is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter and was designed with the goal of amusing kids and engaging adults. It’s not afraid to be a little cheeky with its theme and you can tell its designers clearly had a lot of fun with it.

It is really hard for me to say anything negative about a game developer who has an "About" section on his website that simply features a GIF of him doing the robot in a bright orange shirt.

Take on the role of a medieval king, conquer Europe and beyond, wage deadly wars, and build an empire…all in this casual 45 minute card game.

Some card games feel made for a lazy Saturday afternoon of casual games and low-key fun. Nuts about Mutts is one such game, calling to mind the nostalgia of several classic card games while still managing to stand on its own two feet (or rather its own four paws) as a fun, light, family-friendly game.
