Randy Flynn’s tile-laying phenomenon is the latest puzzler in Flatout Games’s growing oeuvre.

There are a number of games with cozy themes this month on Kickstarter, from one about dog walking businesses to two separate games about plants. There is also a solo game about mountain climbing and a cooperative game centered on fighting oil spills, while the newest game in the Mint series has hit Kickstarter.

2020 was a bumpy year in many respects, but there definitely was a silver lining: some great games were released! There were many great candidates for our annual award, but in the end we had to narrow it down to one.

Calico is a 1-4 player tile-laying game that asks players to solve spatial puzzles to craft quilts fit for feline inhabitants.

This month brings the newest addition to the Tiny Epic game series, as well as a sequel to Sub Terra. You will also find some puzzly tile laying, wrestling gnomes, and fashionable vampires.

Flatout Games is an up-and-coming publisher and designing house that took their first steps into the board gaming industry the same way as most do, by playing games.
