Best Casual Game of 2020

2020 was a bumpy year in many respects, but there definitely was a silver lining: some great games were released! There were many great candidates for our annual award, but in the end we had to narrow it down to one.

The votes have been tallied and a winner has been announced for our Best Casual Game of 2020 award: Calico by AEG and Flatout Games! Congratulations to the publishers, the designer (Kevin Russ), and the artist (Beth Sobel) for a job well done.

After our panel of judges narrowed down the list of candidates to just three nominees, a vote was taken by our judges as well as our readers to determine a winner. And it was no contest — Calico won in a landslide! The results of the vote are below:

A special review of Calico will be featured in the Spring 2021 issue of Casual Game Insider (released April 2021). We would like to recognize and congratulate the runners up, My City and Back to the Future: Back in Time. Other honorable mentions include The Crew, Sonora, Pan Am, Trekking the World, and Hues and Clues. These are all great casual games that received multiple nominations from our judges and deserve your attention.

We would also like to offer a special thanks to our judges who took part in the nomination and voting process!
