Jon Den Houter
Jon's major interests are education and board games (and writing, but that's a story for another time). His interest in education is apparent in how much time he's spent in school, earning a B.A. in English from the University of Michigan (2001), a M.Div from Calvin Seminary (2008), and an M.Ed from Aquinas College (2021). His interest in board games began in 2011 when he and his brother bought Forbidden Island on a whim (simply because they needed something to do and the art on the front tin looked cool). Forbidden Island scratched an itch they didn't even know they had. Soon thereafter they went to Barnes & Noble (not yet knowing the existence of FLGS) to buy another game. They had just picked up Arkham Horror to look at it more closely when a passerby said, "Great game!" They bought it on his recommendation, discovered boardgamegeek soon after that, and a hobby was born. Jon is an English teacher at Western Michigan Christian School in Muskegon, where he seeks as much as possible to integrate board games in his teaching.
