Casual Game Insider

Casual Game Insider has become the first and only U.S. board gaming magazine to be distributed on modern mobile devices! As of today, it is now available for download on Apple Newsstand, Amazon Appstore, and BlackBerry Newsstand marketplaces. Supported devices include iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, Kindle Fire, BlackBerry smartphones, and Android devices connected to the Amazon Appstore.

The Fall 2013 issue of Casual Game Insider is now in stock and available for sale! Print and digital versions are available.

By popular demand, we are now offering digital (PDF) subscriptions of Casual Game Insider magazine as an alternative to the print version. Each individual issue is now also available for purchase directly from us in PDF format. In addition, all of our current and future print subscribers will receive a PDF of each new magazine issue at no extra charge, with no action required on their behalf.

Flash Point: Fire Rescue expansions make the original game even better. Plus: a behind-the-scenes look at the Spiel des Jahres award and a review of Hanabi, 15 things to consider when choosing games for the holidays, how the recommended age label is misleading people everywhere, and a look back at the first 40 years of Realm, a classic abstract game by a prolific designer.

Please help us fund our second year of publication! If we gather extra support, we also hope to expand our reach to digital marketplaces and more retailers.

We are pleased to announce that the iPad version of Casual Game Insider is now available as an in-app purchase! Previously, the magazine was only available for purchase on the HP Magcloud website (our digital distribution partner). To view it on an iPad, additional steps were required to then download it to the device for reading. However, a recent update to the Magcloud app now allows users to purchase the publication from within the app using their iTunes account.

Casual Game Insider has reached a new milestone! We recently struck a deal with PHD, the third U.S. board game distributor to carry the magazine since its inaugural issue was released in October, 2012. PHD has warehouses in Florida, New Jersey, and Texas, all of which will be distributing the magazine to the active retailers in their area of distribution. These warehouses, in addition to five others from ACD and GTS Distribution, will allow the magazine to reach a new milestone of 2,000 retail stores. Click here to read the full press release.

TMG’s Kickstarter smash-hit dice game, Dungeon Roll, is fun for the whole family. Plus: 3 design tips to keep your strategy game casual, a free card game by casual game designer Daniel Solis, the threats that video game resellers are facing and how board games can help prevent the impending doom, a side-by-side comparison of online boardgaming platforms, an inside look at The Game Crafter and the impact of print-on-demand publishing on the industry, and a look back at the first year of Casual Game Insider.
