Queen Games’ Kingdom Builder has won the 2012 Spiel des Jahres award – learn how to play and find out how the publisher came to be.
Plus: an in depth look at tabletop funding on Kickstarter by game weight, a new hierarchy of gamers, helpful tips from a successful game retailer, and what the board game industry can learn from the casual video game movement.
I'll have to mention this to a couple of my local retailers
I'd be most interested in reading the Hierarchy of Gamers. I like the direction of the magazine.
I would really like to see this on the nook and kindle. Looks awesome!
I'm not a big magazine purchaser...but I'd be interested to find a copy at a local retailer and thumb through it. This sounds like an intriguing magazine.
The date on the magazine says Winter 2013 but on the website it describes it as Winter 2012. Thought you might want to know. Also, thanks for bringing awareness to casual games!
Thanks for the heads up! It's been corrected.
i do think this would make a neat addition to my nook
I agree with the assessment here! I love casual games just as much, if not more than most hardcore games.
Need to find a copy locally to thumb through. :)
I supported this on Kickstarter and I'm glad to see that it's still going strong. Keep up the good work,
Think I'm going to have to subscribe to the physical version. :)
I have subscribed from Kickstarter, I think probably one of the best investments
It's fun to see have something that can be handed off in person to a friend that explains some of our culture!
Thanks for helping spread the wealth!
I gave this game to my daughter for Christmas. I could not believe the fun that we had running around the mines trying to get the gold and trying to stop each other to from getting the gold. This moved up to one of our top 5 board games that we have.
my oldest really likes games, so I like this magazine and am entering the contest, thanks!
I love the innovative games coming out of kickstarter--it's great to see them.
Very nice magazine. It's nice to see a magazine for games other than just video games.
Very interesting magazine. Definitely sounds like you have content that I'm interested in reading. Thanks for having download versions.
I like this. Its hard to find experienced board game players to ask questions to. Especially strategy. Thanks.
As a KS backer for several games, I found this article very informative\interesting. Keep up the good work!
Love your games! So much fun!!
I would really love to net a copy of this game. I've never heard of it, but I love Japanese themed games. Check out Shitenno. It's another GREAT feudal japan style game. If I dont win Tokaido, I'll just have to buy it myself.
I believe the economic crisis has bee good for board games. People seek something they can enjoy with friends, that has replay value and low cost. So a magazine about board games is an excellent idea.
I have yet to get a "magazine" on my iPad, but this might be my first one. I'll have to check it out when I have time tonight.
This magazine appears to be filling a void that has been missing since knucklebones stopped publishing five years ago.
Just played Kingdom Builder - one example of the definition of Casual Game.
I've never played kingdom Builder. Your magazine looks like it would have good info on it.
This looks really great, and I'd love to get it for kindle if available.
Finally read through the debut issue I got from backing on Kickstarter - nice magazine!
