Casual Game Crowdfunding: Golf, Sushi, and Running from Bears

PG Pro Golf

We often see casual games being drowned out by RPGs, miniatures, and heavier games on crowdfunding websites like Kickstarter and IndieGoGo. That's where we come in! Here is a list of some of the best only casual game concepts being crowdfunded this month.

PG Pro Golf (Scott Kreager) - A simple tabletop golf game that is driven by dice rolls. One die determines the exact angle of the shot and another die (chosen by the player) represents the club used and determines the distance achieved on each stroke.

Sushi Go! (Phil Walker-Harding) - A quick and cutesy card game about collecting the best combinations of sushi dishes as they circle around the table. Players select a card from their hand and pass the entire hand on to the next player. Different dishes score points in different ways. A print-and-play version is available for evaluation.

Keep Running! (Sprocket Games) - A cutthroat card game by podcaster (and friend) Michael Fox of the Little Metal Dog Show that captures the essence of frantically running from a vicious bear. As the game description points out, outrunning a bear is next to impossible, but outrunning your friends is all that is really necessary to save your own life. (Note: the image shown here is one of the cards - the cover artwork is not yet available).

App'd (Pinche Games) - A card game that brings a futuristic technology theme to the table. Players attempt to download a variety of "apps" directly to their brain and gain the best upgrades.

Note: we have not seen or played any of the above games. Our assessment of each game is based on the information given on the crowdfunding project page.
