Years ago, my wife gave me a card table. This wasn’t the flimsy type with the padded top our (or at least, my) parents bought; this has a resin top and folds in half. It was a great gift, since we have run out of gaming space once or twice during my group’s monthly gaming sessions. However, card tables aren’t always the best option, particularly for games with larger boards,  and so the question of “where do we set up?” arises. Size, shape, height and surface are all considerations.

A.D.A.P.T. is a new game on Kickstarter that seems to solidly fit the casual niche that we are always on the lookout for. After a failed campaign in November, the publisher has come back with a vengeance.

The fifth annual Jack Vasel Memorial Fund auction is in full swing, and it has already raised over $60,000. The auction is the primary fundraiser for the Jack Vasel Memorial Fund, which provides financial help for people in the board gaming community who face a catastrophic event not of their own making.

One of the best tools in gaming's arsenal to expand the range of people playing games is an engaging theme. A game may be incredibly well designed, but it's hard to tell that from the box, and so its theme often has to do the heavy lifting of drawing in potential players.

I consider myself an “accidental inventor.” I’ve been a tinkerer all my life, and lately I had been creating family games, but I never considered myself an inventor.
